394 harmonic balancer question

Hi-I just came into a 62-394 that has no harmonic balancer. I haven't been able to find one specific to this engine and was wondering if anyone knew of a crossover to any of the other olds motors? I may have access to one from a 1960-371if that works but am looking at any others just in case. Thanks for any help - John

Should bolt up and both 371 and 394's are externally balanced, I Believe both are balanced at the flex plate so the balancers should work but to make sure call Toney at Ross Racing he would know for sure, they deal with the first generation Old's motors and are on top of most conversions on these engines....Tedd

62 Olds 394 balancer

This thread has a discussion on early 60's 394 balancers.https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...yard-9.htmlThe Olds chassis parts book says that 1962 394's were all to themselves as far as balancers. They list two different balancers, depending on whether or not A/C was used. I know that 63 & 64 balancers are larger in diameter than 59-62. The 2 groove (non A/C) balancer was part # 583480 The 3 groove (with A/C) balancer was part #583482 I doubt very much that a 371 balancer will work properly.
