It's that time of the year in Southern Maryland. It's our 1st show of the season (hence the term "Coming Out"). The show will be on April 5th. Nothing newer than 1990. We usually have between 500-600 cars. Food, music, prizes, swap meet, etc... It'd be great to get some more Olds people there. Mine is usually one of about 5-6 Oldsmobile's. At least it makes them stand out all the more.

Given the politically-correct climate, they VERY MUCH need to change the name of that car show, or they're gonna find themselves surrounded by rainbow flags.

If you ever have been to southern Maryland you would know how funny that actually is. Sometimes I'd swear that I live in Tennessee. Between all of the girls's in daisy dukes, rebel flags, Trump stickers and Saturday night demolition derbies in the summer.
To get back on topic, it is actually a very fun show. Like I said before, if the sun is shining we usually have about 600 cars. It's only rained once in the past 7 years (knock on wood) and even then we still had 400 cars. All cars have to driven in (no trailer queens) and most of them are true drivers and not "show only". We all wonder around talking cars with each other and have a great time.
Chip - How big is the swap meet and flea market? Unless I missed something what is the entry fee for those showing a car?
Thanks, Rick
Sorry. Forgot to include the rest of the flyer in the attachment. Here it is, or you can print your own from their website. Usually there are about a dozen or so vendors. http://www.southernknightscarclub.org

I don't believe you've missed anything, Rick. I too was considering attending. I've looked at least 5-6 different areas/websites and I still can find no information regarding a registration form, or registration cost.

Rick, Both the Olds & the Chief are candidates. As is often the case w/ either the Olds (convertible) or the Chief, I believe I'll wait to see what the weather holds in store. I have no issues driving/riding either in the rain. The Chief would have the best chance of taking an award, I suppose. In any case, I'll await to see what the weather presents. Sounds like a nice venue. I'd enjoy meeting you guys, as well.
Thanks Chip! I will try to go. Norm you riding your Chief or Olds? Would like to meet you guys.
Rick
I'll be wandering about all day. My son's Boy Scout Troop helps out at the show. So I'm there all day Saturday for the setup, and then from about 7am-6pm on Show day to help the kids and for the tear down afterwards.
Another casualty of the virus. For the 1st time in 33 years, there will be no April show in Charlotte Hall, Maryland. Allot of people have been like "with everything going on, so what". People seem to forget quickly that all proceeds go to local charities, so there will be a trickle down effect.
No, I'm not saying that we should have the show anyway. I'm just trying to point out to that many of these local car shows (not just ours) are not just gear heads showing off. They are one of any number of ways to raise money for local families and groups that are in need.
Maybe they could donate all the entry fees to the charities??
Our local club helps support a local charity and it's been the same facility for years now. I'm not pleased about it because the club president either works at the place of the charity or has some sort of ties to it. When I suggested why didn't we pick a charity "round robin" style every year to support to spread the wealth, so to speak, that idea was met with harsh "southern style" criticism. Which is the subtle kind, not the obvious kind.
So every year, when it comes time to vote to choose the charity, the question is framed to the effect of "Do we want to continue to support XXX?" instead of opening up ideas to the floor. And of course all the lemmings raise their hand. Guess who doesn't go to any of their meets any longer? I'm not going to be taking part in the fund raising arm of that facility. That's how I see it.
I'm not opposed to supporting charities, but it is seemingly so obvious that they're using the car club to help support their agenda. Thank goodness the cycle may break after this year because the president of the club is stepping down after this year. We'll see. If they're going to continue the stupidity, though, I won't be back.
A lot of these charity events are everywhere, not just in car meets, that are being cancelled. This will pass and we can get back to supporting the charities we want to stand behind.
