330 crank question

I just bought my first 330 Jetfire motor, actually, I bought a 1967 Cutlass Supreme with the original 330 Jetfire still in it. I don't know much about this power train except that it is a really nice riding vehicle with plenty of power. I would like to know more, specifically:

1. Is the crank shaft capatible for a 1968 350 rocket performance build?

2. If so, what is the benefit to using the 330 crank shaft rather than the original rocket 350 crank shaft?

3. Is there anything else I should know about the 330 Jetfire motor?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The only differenace between the 330 crank and the 350 crank is that the 330 has a forged crank. This makes it stronger but unless you have a race engine it is a moot point. The 330 balancer is a little different than the 350 balancer and I am not sure what one to use if you were to put that 330 crank in a 350 block. Not much else to tell about the 330 unless it was a 66 or earlier one and that would have a 45 degree lifter bank angle and cam choice is limited for off the shelf units.

You can bore that 330 to std-bore 350 size and use all its other parts and have a 350. You might find std size 350 forged pistons with flat tops a la W31 engine.

Don't forget that the 330/425 crank has a different rear bolt pattern from the 350/455.
If you use the 330 crank, you need a 330/425 flexplate or flywheel.
