Talking 3.8 V6 Starting problems

I spent a whole year trying to figure out why my '87 Cutlass Ciera frequently wouldn't start. I replaced the fuel filter, fuel pump relay, fuel pressure regulator, the starter (from trying to start it so many times). Once, I jiggles the wiring harness behind the distributor and it started. When it worked again, I thought I would have to replace the wires which I thought were hard-wired into the distributor. When I pulled on the wires, I was surprised when they unplugged from the distributor. I sprayed WD-40 on the plug and have not had a problem starting for the past year. I hope this info will help someone avoid the frustration and expense when they have this problem.

Another common issue with fuel injected cars

Another common problem is a stuck fuel pump relay. They are generally located under the hood in the fuse box. Tapping on it can sometimes unfreeze it in a pinch.

Hope this helps.
