was wondering what your guys experiences and performance has been with higher gears in your big block equipped cars.i currently have around 500hp 455 with a turbo 400 and 3000 stall convertor cars fun stop light to stop light but there is hardly any highway driving.so not sure what gears I should swap to.

 

While there is not much difference between the 2, I would go with the 3.42's since your not racing. I run 3.08 and can light the 275-60-15's up almost at will.

 

If your not going to do much highway driving, and you are using a taller tire than the OE, I'd go with the 3.73. More fun to drive, if it's going to be used for a weekend cruiser .....not so much if it will be used on a daily basis.

 

Ive got 3:42s w a 27” tall tire. At 70mph im turning about 3200 rpm.

 

A 2.73 rear turns 2500 at 70 on 225/70/r15s in drive.
