Is the AZ Chapter of OCA active? I went to last year's gathering and heard the club president had retired and they were looking for someone new.

Joe,
Do you need to be an active member to enter the show? or is it open to all Oldsmobiles?

The Club is active. My wife was the President for 9 or 10 years in a row and did not run for re-election. We don't have a President, but we have members assuming the President's duties to be able to function. We have activities scheduled each month through June, 2010. There is a club meeting on Saturday night, October 24th at the Pavilions show. It is Olds night.

The show is open to all Oldsmobiles. You do not have to be a Club member to have your car in the show.

Will there be a race? Would the rentacops at Pavilion get torqued if a car had open headers? I don't have exhaust (except for collector extensions ) on my Rund 66 W30.

My guess would be with a +100 cars there they are probably expecting a few loud ones. Plus what could a rentacop really do about a car with open exhaust? Even if they got the cops to come out there, they wouldn't be able to give you a ticket for it until you pull out on to the main road.

To be honest I think if they did call the cops about a car being to loud at a car show the cops would just laugh at them and not even waste their time.

Hi Joe,

No race. Bring the Rund car!! We usually have about 115 cars at the show. No problem with noise. There are full tilt race cars there all the time. Just keep it in the parking lot, not on the public street!!

Hi Dan,

Looking forward to meeting you too. Love your car! I think I saw you last week, but the crowd was so big I couldn't find you after you parked!

Hi Joe,
I'm stuck in NM right now by the storms but hope to get to the show. I even bought a pair of Hedman glasspacks and welded on flanges to make header mufflers. Wouldn't want to wake Granny. Could you post a list of some cheap hotels nearby? I remember the Inaugural at Firebird in 1988. Still have the two Hurst trophies that Red Car (#24) got.

Hi Joe,
The show last week was so crowded I had to park my car way out in the north 40 away from the action. Got there too late - should have known better. But the show was spectacular. Huge for the area.
