The North Texas Oldsmobile Club will host a judged Zone Show on October 16-18, 2009, at the DFW Marriott Hotel & Golf Club (completely refurbished the last 6 months -3300 Championship Parkway-north of FT Worth) across the road from Texas Motor Speedway ($89 room rate, inclusive; all taxes/etc, if reservations made prior to September 16, 2009; after that date, room rates go to normal $229.00/night+tax). Call 1-888-348-3984 CODE: North Texas Olds Club for room reservations. Show entry fee $30, includes event T-shirt. Available: TMS tours, FW Stockyards 18 miles south, Sundance Square 22 miles. Hospitality Room at the hotel Friday/Saturday/Sunday. Judging will be Saturday AM, then we will caravan 20 miles northward (up IH35) to just north of Denton, TX, to the North Star Dragway, for a Saturday evening of racing/watching/eating/etc. Awards Sunday AM at the hotel. Details to follow on the NTOC website as soon as available. Eileen O'Connell (Houston area/Texas Gulf Coast Club racer) will be coodernating the race program; probably be heads up/grudge matches. South Texas (San Antonio/Austin area) & Texas Gulf Coast Clubs will be participating, along with Oklahoma folks, we hope. Notification will be going out to OCA Clubs that I represent as an OCA South Central Zone Director. HOPE EACH OF YOU CAN MAKE OUR SHOW! More information available soon on the NTOC website.

Guys from the club are working sercurity all night in shifts. Also do to location you can't see anything from major roads so security should not be much of a problem. The location is about 1/4 off the road and there is only one way in.

Like Richard said, we will have two person teams from 10 PM until 6 AM w/2 way radios and golf carts, w/show field blocked off. We plan to have a radio at the hotel main desk for additional communications, plus personnel will have cell phones w/them to dial 911. Can't be too careful after Indianapolis and the H/O show two months ago. There will be no official swap meet going on, but may be some folks selling a few items on the side, nothing I am aware of.

Aron - is the registration and fees the same if you choose to no have your car judged?
I plan to be there on Sat. only and there is also no sense having an unfinished car judged...
Anyone else gonna be there?
As for swap meet, I will have a GM G-body rear sway bar that I would love to SWAP for an A-body bar!

Rob: You don't have to register if you aren't having your car judged, and you just want to come hang out and enjoy the Oldsmobile's, owners, and perhaps lift a few in the process. No "show only", as at the Nats, and you would have to register, if so. Need any other information, give me a call @ 214-327-6699.

So to the ones who are going - when do you plan to be there?
It looks like the dragway opens at 6pm, so I thought about coming after 1 or 2 pm or so. Any estimate on the number of cars?
Just trying to plan my time for the day and I want to meet as many from here as possible. Of course my aging legs can only hold me for so long...

I have to work Friday so I won't be there until Saturday morning.
I have a few things that are in my way they are not realistic to ship so if anyone wants them let me me know and I will deliver to show for free.
455 with J heads complete brackets and all was told was in a 73 Delta and ran good. I never heard it run personally it turns over by with a flywheel wrench with ease. $400.00
425 Block small lifter with 45 cam angle. Was bored .030 and assembeld as a short block but never fired. Has ARP main bolts. I sold the rotating assembly a while back so all I have is the block now. Vert light surface rust in bores. Will clean up very easy. Its just in my way. I need it gone.
$75.00
B heads small valve cores as pulled condition $100.00 pair
67 442 complete rear axle assembly 3.08 non posi solid surface rusted but not majorly pitted. Will clean up good when blasted. $100.00
If I don't sell the complete 455 I might be interested in a BBO Performer intake to toss it in my car for now.

Estimate is 60 judged cars, with others just "being there". We plan to arrive at the Marriott at 2:30, as check in is 3 PM. Will start setting the show field up then for staging Saturday AM. We plan to leave the hotel Saturday about 5 PM to go to North Star Dragway.

I took lots of pics of each car, but do not have a place to post them all. I cannot be selective as every car looked so good...
I got lots of cool footage at the dragway - I will post that tomorrow AM.
MANY THANKS to all those who made this event possible and attended! Alice and I had a great time and enjoyed meeting the ones we did.

Yup it was damn slow
After watching both records get broken in the Texas True 10.5 race everything else looked slow. 5.48 on a 275-60 drag radial single power adder stock suspension class and 4.98 in the true 10.5" class is insane. A few short years ago high 4's were pro-mod times.

Well, I cannot post my favorite pictures here, as there are over 100 of them (more like all of them!)
Alice had a few favorites, so I will post them... She likes red cars in general and of course, she loves mine (how else would she get home??)
However this blue '57 had lots of her interest. Notice how she is 'hovering' next to it! I had to explain to her why the 3 air cleaners (and what an air cleaner even does...)
Personally, I think she liked this one just because the color matched her outfit...
I really like this year, also. They are just so unique and flooded with chrome! The dash was a work of art...

I knew it was either of the two (and I always get 50-50 guesses wrong...)
She wanted over half of them!

I was relying on memory, but that is not fixable.
I knew it was either of the two (and I always get 50-50 guesses wrong...)
You gotta talk to Jamesbo and Cittcapp bout them memory enhancing drugs - if Jamesbo can git em away from the bear!!

Very nice pics 168 in all . What was the one with the hood sitting on top of the car? missing hood springs and hinges? I liked the old blue one , was that around a 1930 or so. Richards car looked nice and shiny. There were a lot of really nice cars though not enough of the landyachts.
