2 barrel carb
2 barrel carb
I'm looking for a big 2 barrel carb for my son's race car. He's running in the V8 super stock class. If you run a 4 barrel you can't use racing tires. So I'm in the need for a big 2 barrel at least 650 anyone have one lying around they want to get rid of?

First, be aware that 2bbl and 4bbl carbs are CFM rated at different pressure drops, so you can't simply compare CFM ratings. 2bbl carbs are rated at a pressure differential of 3 inches of vacuum, 4bbl carbs at 1.5 inches of vacuum. The conversion factor is 0.707, so if your 650 CFM number is the current 4bbl rating, you would need a 2bbl carb of over 900 cfm.
More importantly, the largest 2bbl carb you can readily find is the 500 CFM Holley 2bbl specifically made for 2bbl racing classes. The 2GC isn't even in the same time zone on flow rate. The only possibility for more airflow out of a 2bbl is half of a split Dominator 4500. Some of these flow up to 1250 CFM (from TWO barrels). I shudder to think what the off-idle performance would be like, however.

I going to have to look and see how the rules are worded.I was thinking about using one of those old 3 barrels,it's not a 4 barrel. We're going to be pretty out-classed and out -budgeted to.So we don't have to worry about being tore down until we win a lot and that probably won't happen for a while if at all.
