I'm hoping someone can answer this rather quickly. I recently purchased a 1994 cutlass supreme 3.1 liter with a bad catalytic converter, I have a replacement for it but the mechanic working on it before I purchased it cut the pipe coming from the manifold to the converter rather close to a bend. When I look at that pipe it looks like a pipe inside a pipe, What I need to confirm is, do I need to clamp on the outside of the biggest pipe or to the smaller inner pipe? I never work on exhaust when I can afford not to, I can't afford not to. any help would be great.
