1990 Toronado

Back again with another Olds...I couldn't bare being without one...haha.

I picked up a 1990 Toronado Brougham (Base) coupe. Has only 66K miles!! I found out it's also a rare color combo with the light auburn exterior and dark auburn interior. I've not been able to find any interior accessories in that color...which kinda sucks, but cool that it's a rare one.

It has the analog gauges and the option Visual Information Center (VIC). Pretty sweet setup...very advanced for the time.

Does anyone know what gives the Trofeo model the throaty exhaust sound? I know it has dual exhaust tips but wasn't sure if it just used a different muffler or what. I'd like to give mine the same setup...it sounds really cool.

I'm not sure what being reluctant to go to a nudist colony has to do with Oldsmobiles, but... oh, you meant "can't BEAR being without one..."

Seriously, these cars are really starting to grow on me. I have only one word for you: 3800SC.

Had a '90 Trofeo in the mid-90s. Impressive car! Superb handling ride, and comfort. All it lacked was some zip. Yes, the SC would have completed the package. But considering the iron horse reliability and decent gas mileage, it was forgivable. Light years ahead of the '86-'89s. Figured that just when they were getting it right, it was going onto the chopping block.

I remember going to look at one of these brand new in the showroom...I think it was a 91 or 92. I was only about 16 at the time and thought it was the coolest car. A supercharger would do a lot for it...it's definitely not slow though. Especially on the highway...it accelerates to pass with ease.

For a super charged 3800. Your better off buying a complete engine and you will need the ECM and wiring harness. For the easiest swap you would want to stay with 94 and back engine.

Found a 92 Toronado at a small garage last week. It interests me because I always liked the long-tail body and the 3800, but this one is a digital dash car and I'm wary of it. I know they can be repaired, but.
