1977 5-Speeds

Can someone provide the production numbers for 1977 Oldsmobiles built with factory 5-Speed transmissions ? Just curious - I do not recall seeing one in person.

That weak-kneed T50 was only offered with the 260 V8 in the A-body cars. It came behind the Buford V6 in the Starfire. I've driven one of those.

Was this the first time a 5-speed was offered in an American production car ?

The T50 was first offered in the 1976 model year. It was used in the Cosworth Vega, the other H-body cars, and the A-body cars with tiny engines. That trans is optimistically rated at 205 ft-lbs. It may be the only GM five speed that's weaker than a T5.
