1976 Cutlass

I may have an opportunity to buy this for a very good price. Odometer says 40k I believe it has not rolled over. What do you guys think?

Looks like a nice clean car, you may have trouble finding the fender-bumper filler. I think there used to be reproductions available but not sure if they still are. Good luck.

Looks pretty clean to me. A/C, cruise, front bumper guards, rallys, what other options does it have. Needs sports mirror IMO. I really liked the way the 76 drives. Don't overpay, some people think they can get 68-72 money for the colonnades. I've seen these for sale from $8k to $25k, this one looks closer to 10k to me.

I couldn't read the model on the fender, but it sure didn't look like "Cutlass something" to me, did someone personalize it? 😁

Good looking car. Very comfortable, great cruiser. Just not much oomph. No big deal If that's not your thing. I'm assuming that's the 350/350 combo.

Deserving of being the best selling car that year.

It all depends on what "a really great price" is.

In the neighborhood of $6500, I do all his alignments for him, so I’m trying to twist his arm a little bit.

I like it and think that is a fair price. I owned two similar to that back in the day.

Looks good and well optioned. $6500 seems like a pretty good deal. If you're gonna flip it, you probably wouldn't get much more than 8k IMO. The exterior color just isn't that popular.

But at your price I'd buy it if I had space.

Not looking to flip, I’d rather drive a carbureted car than newer fuel injection car. Looking for a car I could drive and not worry too much about it.

Is there anything missing besides the rear quarter filler?

I’ll be picking it up on 09/30. It will need new tires, rear fillers, and alternator.

Congrats. After you get it home and go through it, get you a double hump crossmember and have a local muffler shop put you a nice se of duals on it. You butt dyno will tell you that you have 250 horse power. I am assuming it doesn't have duals and you don't have to worry about a catalytic converter. Enjoy your car and start a thread on your car.

Enjoy it! From the pics it looks like the car may be very original, consider repairing your alternator or having it rebuilt if it is original to the car vs exchanging it for a rebuilt.

The car is screaming for some RWL tires, BFGs or Coopers. Once you get everything sorted out, it will be a great reliable ride, decent fuel economy from that 350 too even if not much oomph.

Best looking mid-late 70's Olds IMO.

Somebody ordered that car. You don't see many J57 Cutlass Supremes with windows and locks.

Once you have diagnosed its actually a failed alternator and not just a battery or a bad ground connection have the alternator rebuilt. At minimum hang on to it if its original to the car,.
You will be much farther ahead getting it rebuilt locally.

Same deal for anything else that may need too be replaced. Rebuild it. The only replacement components now are china junk.

Change all the fluids on this car...down to coolant, diff, trans, pwr steering, brake etc. Flush the heater core separately and gently.

Gotta love the Calif rust free iron!

It's a Cutlass Supreme. The script is super fancy.

What do you guys think, 225/70r15 or 245/60r15 tire size. I have always ran 245/60r15 on my 68-72' Cutlasses, I think the 76' might look better with 225s. Any thought?

Looks like an 80's or later glued on nameplate rather than the push pin metal one. No biggie there.
