1972 w-30

How rare are they?
Price range w/a documented No 3+ car?
Is there a post that I can get educated on them?
Thanks.

At the top in the search bar just type 1972 W30, then enjoy.

Here is the description from the seller:

The 72 is a car I have known about for over 5 years before we got it for my friend and current owner Tom. The car is a documented 47,000 car and is all numbers match, even the carb and distributor. All the sheet metal is original and has 1 one repaint in 1977 at the gm dealership. The documents are in the photos I sent and are original documentation not repops. The 72 W30 cars did not come with the red front inner fenders and the fifth digit in the vin is an X which denotes W30. The car is very well optioned with P.S, P.D.B, sport steering wheel and sport exterior mirrors. Deluxe lighting group, tac and gauges, am/fm 8 track, power trunk release, power windows, electric rear defrost, 3:42 anti-spin rear axle, SS1 wheels, cruise control and bucket seats with dual gate shifter and I believe tilt column. The car retains its original interior and a lot of it's original exhaust. The color is called sunfire yellow. The fit and function is excellent as only original cars are. As all my 72 Olds's have been it is truly a velvet hammer meaning quite and smooth but a brute when the petal is put down. A true chance to feel what a factory muscle car feels like and that is rare. I honestly believe it is one of the best survivor 72 W30 left and are incredibly hard to come by. Please call anytime with what ever you may need. I am very picky on correctness and fit and function and I can actually say this is one to keep.

Where?

is this car in Canada or the US?

Cruise control is very rare on any 442 let alone a W machine.

Post pics please. It sounds a lot like that very late production car that got sold out of Edmonton AB about 18 months ago.

Yes, I understand it is a Canadian car.
I have been unable to get the pictures to post.
It is yellow, auto, with black buckets...
Do you have any idea what it sold for?
My children will help me post a picture tomorrow.
Thanks

Aside of the condition of the car and its integrity, there is the possibility that GM of Canada has the invoice if sold new there.

This car

https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...w30-built.html

Is the car in this link the car in question?

If so that car is most likely the last W-30 built in 1972.

Can you tell us where that car ended up?

The car is in either Denver or Minnesota, I will find out today. Yes, Olds Dave, that is the car in question. Thank you so much for helping on that part of the equation.
I am an Olds lover, have had a bunch, but generally prefer good drivers than super nice pristine cars. This car is being represented as a "surviver."
It's clearly rare, the question in my mind is whether it's a 25 or 50k car and whether it's been monkeyed with.
If I get real serious about purchasing it, maybe I could recruit you guys (paid) to go and authenticate and inspect it...if not, I'll put you in touch with the man who contacted me.
So, can you guys take a stab at the value?
Thanks again

Very helpful Scott. The gentleman who called me yesterday called from Denver but he used to live in Minnesota.
Too much money for this Mississippi boy.

38k is a boat load of money but I still think its a deal. A survivor '72 with documentation and the X in the VIN. How are these 72's not worth more.

One of 370 Auto, W30s...if its all there with an (obtainable) paper trail and rot free 38K is fair. If you can negotiate a few K lower its a deal I say.

I have copies of all the original paperwork for the car if there are ever any questions about the cars history. Parts invoices, dealer invoice, service invoices, new tire invoices, exhaust invoice, registration copies from 1980, etc.
