The starter wires going down to solinoid one is resister one is starter there is a black wire a little higher up what is it for ?

 

Besides the battery cable there are 2 other wires, the purple for start and the yellow is the resistance wire bypass that runs to the coil+ terminal. Don't know what the black wire is, someone may have added a ground to the starter. Can you follow it and see where it runs to?
