I'm being told that the OEM BSM's were not put on with adhesive in the factory but rather "riveted'? Alternatively I do recall in the day some moldings were attached by a "stem" topped off by small round metal head that had been possibly spot welded on the door?

Ring any bells?

 

They where installed with welded button post in the panel fields with a stud and nut on the ends.
