1971 cutlass center console
Hi All,
I am in the process of removing my center console to modify it to accept a his and hers shifter. I have removed to two screws on either side in the front, and the two by the shifter. what holds the back of the console on? clips? screws? any help on this?

Console is out thanks for your help. Troy, I do not have a template but now that my console is out, I appears as though there are markings as to where it needs to be cut. I'm going to use a dremel with a disk. I plan to do this in the next week or two and I will let you know how it turns out.

The underside of the console has molded in lines where it is to be cut for the Dual Gate.
Be aware that the plastic will melt if you use a high speed to cut the console. Dial it down to "milling" speed and the plastic won't melt.

Be aware that there are score lines on the underside of the console for both the dual gate and the four speed. Be sure you know which ones you need to cut. The 1971 and 72 Chassis Service Manuals show this. The 1970 does not for some reason (at least the early printing that I have does not).
