1971 - 1972 W-30 Manifold

I would appreciate the advice of everyone - Ive had a 1971-1972 W-30 Manifold that I bought in 1979 - it's a #406115 with a date code of 12-11-69 on the bottom - as bought - i haven't cleaned it, but as inspected it is perfect with no cracks. 2 years ago at Carlisle PA an olds vender appraised it at $1200.00 Can anyone advise if this is the right number - Also want it to go to an Old's Man - Not a Reseller. Thanks , TJ

That date code would be date correct for a 1970, not 71/72. The price you were quoted sounds right. These manifolds are re popped now but the castings aren't very well done and fairly easy to spot. For the person looking for OEN and date code correct yours sounds like a winner. May I suggest you post some pictures to tweak interest? Anyone who's looking will no doubt want to see it, and it will eliminate the need to send a lot of emails with pics to potential buyers. Best of luck for your sale.

As Allan correctly points out, the date code is consistent with a 1970 intake. The casting number is also for a 1970 intake, as a 71-72 intake would have casting number 407570. Does your manifold say "Olds" or "Oldsmobile" above the "W-455"?

Says OLDS W-455 May be a late casting

That is the high end for an OLDS W-455. The OLDSMOBILE brings a little more.

Jjoldsman - Sorry for my manners; Welcome aboard!

Not 100% sure, but I believe the earlier castings were OLDSMOBILE 455and later ones were OLDS - 455. Most of the latter type I've seen have time date castings in 1970. Joe can discuss that in better detail than I can.

You are correct. Most of the Dec 1969 castings that I've seen were OLDSMOBILE manifolds, not OLDS. This would be one of the earliest with the OLDS logo.

The earliest one I have seen is 12/8/69.
Oldest OLDSMOBILE I have seen is 11/14/69
