1970 rear lights

Does anyone have pics of a 1970 original rear bumper with the lights in? I bought 2 new bumpers and putting the bumpers together with original housings. I'd like to know or see if the reverse lights I are flush with bumper or set in slightly? Also how far the tail lights set out. I've had to adjust the brackets slightly for alignment but want to know where they are supposed to set originally. Sounds like a funny question but don't want them to set too far in or out. Thanks for your thoughts and input!

This is true. I have a lot of folks telling me the hard tops are "better" looking. It doesn't bother me I like the different look. I think they may be jealous!!!

Payton said it best!!!
i don't need pics of the inside of the bumper, just the outside. The reverse lights seem to set in about a 1/4" from being even with the outside. I do not have my gaskets in yet but thought these were close to being even. So I figured i'd ask about the tail lights as well. I have the tail lights meeting in the middle of the inward lip of the stamping hole but want to make sure this is correct. Or did they float around alot on the originals?

Thnaks for any input.

The tailight (and reverse lamp) gaskets are actually fairly thick so they will may a difference. The old original gaskets (a grey closed cell rubber/foam material) even after 40 years look like they started out being close to 3/16" thick and they aren't extremely compressed after that many years.

New gaskets I've had seem to be a similar grey material and about the same thickness.

You don't need (or want to) crank down the screws very hard either...you will create stress cracks in the lenses.

Yeah I have the gaskets from OPG and they seem to be the same material and thickness as my originals. My main concern is the reverse lights. They sit in past the lip in the hole. I know I will have some thickness added to my overall height but wanted to know if they were close to flush or sit in slightly. Right now I will be 3/16 to 1/4 inch in with the gaskets. easy fix but would like for them to appear close to stock. sounds picky but that's just me I guess. Everything else about the bumpers seems to be excellent other than the R light depths.

Possibly a fuel gauage, front and rear bumper hardware to attach to frame serated washer type. 70 grilles both sides!!!LOL Thinking about converting to bucket seats and console but people are wanting body parts off from the buyer for those. There is more but I need to finish up my coffee first Maybe come out and take a look around.

Yes on gauge, When you say hardware do mean the fender mounts or just the bolt n nuts? And yes you would be welcome to stop over this weekend if you wish. I do have buckets n consoles etc but prefer cash over cadaverous parts.

I just purchased all of the support rods and bumper brackets off ebay along with tons of other parts. I would need just the hardware. I've just about have everything I need but i'm sure i'll need lots more as I go. I haven't purchased my seat upholstry yet so Id deffinetly be interested in know what you want for them. I would also need the column and speedo as well if I go this route. If the price is right I do have cash!!!!
