The engine compartment doesn't look like 14,000 miles to me.
I have to believe that this is really 114,000.

I guess the exterior and interior look the part though.
It's five miles from me so I should probably go have a look for myself.
If it's true it should be worth the opening bid anyway.

Yeah , there's no way that's only 14,000 on that motor .... unless they used watercolors lol

edit .... unless of course they rebuilt it , and didn't paint the motor when they were done , which would seem crazy to me .

It could be. If no one painted on it there is still paint remaining on the exhaust ports of the heads. It's still just a Cutlass though.

you guys are used to seeing low mile cars after they are detailed,

its probably real miles....low miles plus 43 years..no real maintainance under the hood...thats what they look like, i owned a 8,000 mile f85...yes 8,000 and it looked about the same, little less crusty, but stored its whole life...still had 2nd 1/4 of 64 spark plug wires on it..it wasnt as clean as i thought it should be...so i detailed it and ruined the originality, but it looked new

I don't know if it is or not but I can say that I had a 68 cutlass with 14,000 miles and a 72 W-30 with 16,000 miles and both looked like this under the hood. 43 years is a long time to look new even if it is low miles.

This is the 16,000 mile 72 W-30

I live on a dirt road. My engine compartment looks like that after 1.4 miles!

Of course, were I selling this car, I MIGHT have invested in a couple of cans of engine cleaner before taking the photos.

Looking at the high wear areas (which show no wear at all) would lead me to believe it really is very low mileage. As far as engine grime and surface rust, I've seen new cars that looked worse after only 1 or 2 years.

Yes, and in the bigger picture it's just an A-Body or just GM.
A 67, 68, or 69 Camaro doesn't have to be a Z28 or Pace car
to demand a premium anymore, and they weren't as nice a car.

Okay, the general consensus leads to it probably being low miles.
Baring the finding of paint work or a bad engine, what's it worth?
I think it should be worth over 20K, and even in today's market
should still bring at least 15K.
Not a 442, Okay, but well optioned and remarkably low mile.

I think the key is that it's not a 442 and the VIN will prove that every time for this year. IMO 15K would be top of the line all things considered. I think

Simply sitting for 42 years doesn't mean the car will be perfect out of the barn. I see a new MC, but there's not a lot of information about what mechanical shape the car is in. After that long, I'm sure there's work needed on rubber parts, suspension, gaskets etc that need to be factored into the purchase.

I'd be curious to know how a starting bid of 12,578 was arrived at....

It's worth what someone will stroke a check for. Low mileage does not make it worth a mint, it is what it is.
