1970 Dualgate question

How hard is it to replace the neutral safety switch in a 1970 442 with a dual gate console?

Im gonna say it doesn't look too hard, Just need to remove console to expose the rear of shifter to replace switch. Removal of console takes a few screws along with **** and top plate of shifter. Some screws are accessed in the console glove box along with wiring for lights.

Repro Dual Gate Neutral Safety Switches

I have recently installed one of the repro dual gate neutral safety switches as it was missing when I bought the car. The repro was a reasonably good reproduction EXCEPT that the length of the link that pivots from the shifter was almost 1/4" too long and it was impossible to make contact in Park and the switch position is restricted by the floor. I ended up having to knock the roll pin out from the slider & link then redrilled the hole to shorten the link back to exactly 1 1/2" and bingo its perfect.

With linkage as supplied. Link connecting to shifter was 1/4" too long. Note the red marked sliding contact is not fully seated to the left in park position.

With shortened link it works perfect
