question

Very nice car. Enjoy.

Question. Should the shift ball be black or white?.

Not running down the car just trying to learn. I think that the ball should be black but I see that it is white.

This W-31 was recently purchased from what we were told is the third owner.

(Currently tracking down the original owner)

It was indeed located in Michigan until it was purchased and sent to our facility in Saint Charles.

As far as I know a black shift **** was standard with console or not. We have not performed any changes or restoration at this point. The car will be sent to MASCAR in California for that. We will perform an inspection and certification before it leaves.

Very cool car, How does one go about tracking down the original owner? I would love to find the original owner to the Hurst and the Rallye .

The previous owner parked with us at the Dream Cruise I think 2012 or 13. I'll see if I have a pic. Very nice car!

This car was owned by an Olds collector in New Castle, PA before going to MI.

If you think this car is cool, you should check out the owner's Cougar Eliminator.

I believe the guys at MASCAR might take just a bit more time to restore this one. Plan to see it unveiled at The Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals this Fall!

In the mean time, I'll post some pics of what we look for in our certification process.

The car was sold new in PA and the recent prior owner was "Ben".

The name of the original owner is on the original protect-o-plate.

We have found an individual with the same name in his 60s, living in the same vicinity.

I do not have the name of the second owner/collector mentioned. It would be nice to contact him as well.

That is private info, between the buyer and the seller. This was a private transaction and the car was not publicly advertised, as far as I know.

No disrespect intended and I have no further questions or any interest for that matter.

We must always inspect the car in person. While digital photos are a wonderful tool, the vehicle must be seen / inspected in person.

One of my Partners was sent to go and physically see the car and provide a general inspection, as well as take pictures of pertinent items.

Once the initial inspection was completed and we provide our findings to the Buyer, the decision was made to move forward with the purchase. While not much about these old cars is ever 100%, the risk involved was mitigated by the initial inspection.

The vehicle was then transported to our facility in order to perform a more intensive inspection, which included removing the interior, opening up the rear end housing and using a bore scope to inspect some not readily accessible and or visible areas of the car.

Hello everyone, thank you for your kind words on the car. I want to thank Stefano for posting this for me, I want to clarify to everyone that I have asked and paid for Stefano and the Nickey organization to verify and certify this car for its authenticity and accuracy. I have used the Nickey organization several times for assistance with the purchase of my collector cars and have found their services very helpful. I did purchase this car from a gentleman in the MI area, however he would like to remain as anonymous aspossible…….not very likely considering this is a well-known 1970 Black W 31 car and he did show it quite a bit, however please respect his wishes for privacy. We have located the original owner and will be receiving some more information about the car, which will be cool. This car will be going into my Back and Black collection and will be shown “hopefully” in Chicago in November. I want to thank the gentleman that sold me the car, he was very helpful and has taken very good care of the car over the years and it is in wonderful shape. We at Mascar will be doing a complete restoration of the car as Stefano is done with his documentation process and the car is on its way to us now. We will have to get right to work on the car and we will be providing lots of pictures etc., to Stefano so he can update this thread. If anyone has any information they want to share with me about this great and important car, please send me a pm and I will reach out to you. One last thing, I have adjusted my “Back in Black” collectionand narrowed it down to 6 very important Black 1970 cars, the others will be sold.

What does that have to do with anything?

But, quite the contrary. One of the "few" advantages of living in Sunny California are the qualified driving days. While it won't be used as a daily driver, it will get driven on occasion............ Scott can speak for himself.

He did purchase another significant "Trailer Queen" Collectable (non Olds Muscle Car) from us and was out driving it minutes after it was unloaded : )

I am going to drive the heck out of it : ) I drive all of my cars, they are meant to be drivin. I take good care of them and only drive them on perfect days, but, i do drive them and i drive them like they were intended to be drivin : ) that is why i have Kenny Masaino do all of my engines, transmissions, rear ends, etc, and we blueprint everything!

Hope you all have a great day : )

We certainly look forward to hosting Mr. Tedro's incredible collection at the 2014 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show, November 22-23.

Another reason to put the big red circle on your calendar now and book your rooms.

I was told that the second owner did not want to be contacted and wanted to remain annonymous and i will respect that request. I sent you a pm as well. I do have the original owner info so the second owner is not that important, although it would have been cool to chat with him : )

Looks like the factory contrived that sticker. Then it was covered with a protective material to preserve it.
