can anyone tell me if the doors for the convertible and doors for the coupes are the same. Someone once told me that the convertible doors are a little longer than the coupes, therefore they are not interchangeable.

All 70-72 Cutlass and 442 doors are the same other than the post doors or 4 doors.

They are the same. I used a 72 Cutlass "S" coupe door when I restored my 70 Cutlass convertible..it worked just fine.

You may have to deal with adding/removing mountings for different moldings but the doors are the same.

I agree with above. All 2d hardtops and convertibles use the same doors. Side moulding holes and studs may be different. ~BOB

Unfortunately, it doesn't. As others have noted, all 1970-72 hardtop and convertible doors will interchange. You do need transfer the wedge plates from the rear of the convertible doors to the new doors. These are retained with a couple of phillips head screws.
