1969 Rear Window Defogger

1969 Rear Window Defogger
We have a 1969 Holiday Coupe that was ordered with and retains the rear parcel shelf mounted rear window defogger (fan style) blower.
It doesn't function using the dash mounted switch.
I have checked the switch and looked in the service manual for the wiring schematics for the unit. I have power to the switch in both the low speed and high speed positions. I have yet to check for continuity between the "power out" switch locations to the rear trunk area of the unit at the motor connector. I also plan to run a solid 12V power wire to the fan and ground it out to see if it will run by bypassing the switch.
Because this fan parallels other blower style units used in the cars, is there a relay or inline fuse I should be looking for like the inline 30A fuse for the highspeed on the heater/AC circuitry?
Thanks for reviewing my post and any information you can provide with this issue.

Two wires go back to the fan from the switch. One wire is a resistance wire for low speed. No inline fuse. Wires run to pass. side of car in the middle of floor through a couple of clips, under a paper protector, under the rear carpet, up and under the rear seat, through as metal wire protector (three screws) up the seat back slightly, through a white plastic clip, through a couple of metal clips to the drivers side, and plugs in.

Thanks Yellowstatue.
I just had the rear seat bottom out to pull the seat belts out that had not seen daylight in a few years and previous owners. I saw the routing for the wires to the rear section of the car. Everything looked intact and not crushed/pinched or corroded. Hopefully that is a good sign and the issue may be a simple fix.
I will do my continuity checks and hot wire the fan motor to see if it is free to turn on its own and then on to step 2.
Thanks again for the information.
