1969 Hurst Olds gauges rally pack in padded dash

Hey Guys has anybody actually removed the fuel/temp/oil - speedometer & tik tak clock/tach & if so is there anyway easier than ripping the whole dash apart - I have read blogs that suggest you can remove the Pods from the front That I Don't Get? I seat in the driver's seat & look with a magnified lighted glass & I'm a retired engineer I don't see how it can be done that way - obviously if there is anyway of removing without pulling the padded top dash Id like to know- any help would be greatly appreciative

There are two or three 1/4 inch head screws that hold each pod in place. Located at about 4 and 8 o'clock position if memory serves me correctly. They are accessed from under the dash. If you remove the driver seat and the A/C duct work (if so equipped) use a good flashlight and you will see them. Unplug the electrical connectors and speedo cable and with the screws removed they will slide out the front of the dash pad. It's a good time to replace all the little 194 light bulbs while you have them removed. Hope this helps. Joe

If you're pulling the complete dash pad you probably will need to remove both front seats and the A/C duct work on both sides. There will be 10 to 15 1/4 inch headed screws across the rear of the pad to remove to get the pad to come out. I can't recall off the top of my head if the radio and glove box lid and liner have to be removed but I'm pretty sure they do. Joe

If you decide to remove the whole dash here's an old thread showing where all the fasteners are located. I'm pretty sure there's also old threads showing how the gauge pods are attached. I'm pretty sure the mounting screws will be the same on the rally pack as idiot lights.
