1969 442 Core Support

Are the radiator supports at the bottom where the radiator sits different on a Cutlass S vs a 442? Also, what color did the factory paint the core support. Satin black?
Thanks!

The 2 and 3 row radiators used one size, then the 4 row used a different size for the bottom and top radiator supports/saddles. Both were available with the Cutlass or 442 so its not specific to the model, but how the car was optioned.

To add to what John said....the large core support itself is the same no matter what. It's the "spot-welded-on" parts that differ like the radiator saddles (2) on the lower part of the support.

A satin gloss black paint or maybe slightly glossier would be appropriate for the paint finish. I'm assuming satin is the "middle" of the gloss range b/n flat and gloss. I wouldn't go any flatter than a satin finish.

I was under the impression that Olds underhood black was a 60% gloss.

My car is A/C and has the big radiator, I'll drill out the spot welds and switch the saddles. Looks like Eastwood has a quart of satin black that should work. It looks like the factory did not primer the core support before painting?
Thanks for the info guys!
