1967 98 side marker light differences...why?

I was looking at a '67 98 convert on ebay, and I noticed that it had an extra front side marker light, an amber one, something my my old mans didn't have back in the day, so I started looking at other pics online, and there is a variety, anyone know why? #1 is the one that I first described, #2 has a square front marker light, but I can't tell if there is one at the rear. #3 has one below the Ninety Eight script at the rear, front not visible. #4 has what I knew, one in the front and none in the rear.#5 has no front marker at all, and the rear isn't visible. Comments?

Don't know about 67, but pic 2 may be a cornering lamp, (optional in 67?)

Side marker lights didn't exist in 1967. They were federally mandated for the 1968 model year. Once they came out, people retrofitted them to older cars. The amber side markers in your first and third photos are not factory. The white light forward of it is a cornering light that was optional. The long thin cornering light is correct for a 67, as seen on the blue convertible in your fourth photo. The square cornering light on the grey car in your second photo isn't factory for 1967 either.

A similar thing happened in the mid-80s when the third brake light was federally mandated. There were a lot of aftermarket third brake light kits offered to retrofit older cars.
