1967 442 Trunk Molding

Hello,
I had my trunk molding repaired and replated. I need to paint the pebble finished area black. Anyone know the right paint to use and how to prep the chrome so it sticks. I could use some advice on how to expose the Oldsmobile letters. Do I paint the whole panel and wipe off the tops or do I try and tape them off.

Thanks

I used Rustoleum satin black after cleaning the part with a degreaser and a stiff bristle brush. I painted the whole textured area and cleaned the paint from the letters afterwards. I'd bought the reproduction tail light bezels from Fusick for a 67 442, even though my car is a Cutlass, because I like the blacked out look on the back better but the Fusick bezels are a lighter black than the Rustoleum satin, very close but not an exact match. I think you can see the difference on the picture with the car on the trailer, ready to head off to the muffler shop. I'm sorry I don't have a better picture of the rear of the car, or ANY better pics than the car parked in a carport. I think I need to take some new ones. I hope this helps you.

I have had good look with krylon rust tough semi flat black. When compared to a NOS or nice used original panel its Spot on. As close to factory as I could get. Rustoleum is great also just take a while longer to dry
