There is an older article about this from a lesser known site called oldsmobility.com. Don’t know who runs the site, possibly one of our forum members. The article is called “Biggest Meats for Your Muscle Car.” I believe it’s recommendations are all based on using factory ride height.
Here’s what it says about 64-67 GM A- bodies……1964-1967 GM A-bodies
15- to 18-inch: All rim diameters use 8-inch-wide wheels with 4-1/2-inch backspacing. Use tires with a 245 section width and aspect rations as follows: 15-inch, 60; 16-inch, 50; 17-inch, 40; and 18-inch, 35.

I was going to say that 245 sounded small. The 64-65 cars have the smallest wheel wells, 68-72 the largest. The 66-67s are in the middle. The key take-away from all these posts is that the wheel offset is right around zero (4.5" BS on an 8.5" wheel, for example).
