1966 Olds Cutlass 330 intermittent running
I have a problem with my 66 Oldsmobile 330.Engine was rebuilt 4500 miles ago.I dont have the Luxury of driving it that often.Havent driven her in 2 years. She will start and run fine for 5 to 10 minutes and shut down.I have drained the tank and added 5 gallons of 100 Octane.Added another 5 Gallons of Ethanol Free 90 Octane.I have changed the Fuel Filter .New Fuel Pump...And Ideas .Thanks in advance Ron Roth
I'll just throw this out there. 1st Gen Quadrajets were notorious for flooding. The fact you didn't mention a rich odor probably means Sparky's addressed the known problem. That's a good thing.
Inside the bowl is a passage that connects to the fuel inlet passage, it's at 90* to the inlet passage. There is a tower like structure with a brass pressed in plug. I had my carb apart several times before I realized that was where the leak was. Many rebuild kits have an aluminum plug to stake into the hole.

When you drained the tank, did you flush it out? Replace the inlet sock on the pickup? The symptoms sound like the classic "sucking crud against the inlet sock" problem.
Also, temporarily plumb a fuel pressure gauge to the carb inlet and mount it where you can see it while you drive. What is the pressure doing when the car stops running?

If it does it while idling, disconnect the fuel tank and pull from a red can into the fuel pump and that would eliminate any issues with the tank from consideration if it still does it. If it stops, then it might be tank dropping time.

There is not a direct replacement for a 66 Cutlass tank. Everything sold for a 66 has 2 vent lines. I had to buy one for a Chevelle, then swap the filler neck from my Olds tank to the Chevelle tank. They neck is soldered in, you can DIY it if you have experience sweating copper joints.
