1966 Olds 330 Headers???

I need headers for my 1966 olds cutlass with a 330. I need help with this one. Do 400 and 330 engines have same header. Will the SBO 350 headers work? I have 2" drop spindles - will headers work? Are there shorty headers out there - if so model info is appreciated.

Thanks
Mark

As Richard noted, the 400 is a BBO and has a taller deck height. Those headers won't work on an SBO. The 350 headers MAY work. The 64-67 chassis is about 1.5" narrower than the 68-72 chassis. Not all headers are routed the same, so some 350 headers may clear and some may not.

i've been through 5....yes 5....sets of headers for my 65 w/ 330ci....NONE FIT!! i've tried Sanderson, Hooker, Hedmann, no-namers, etc. none even came close, it is a frame issue. i ended up using 455 manifolds which i ported out the best i could to improve the exhaust flow. you can find some on ebay that are all refinished, ported, and made for true dual exhaust applications. i couldn't stand having that 2nd inlet on the passenger side manifold blocked off on my original when i switched to dual exhaust. here are a few available right now:

I noticed one of the ebay ads bashing the reproduction manifolds so I thought I would give my two cents worth. I used the repros a few years back when I put the 455 in my blue car, I was/am very pleased with them in every way. I also used por-15 black velvet paint following their directions and baking them as well to cure the paint, they still look new with no color loss at all and no rust.

I used a set of these manifolds on my 330 with good results. Good quality product and they fit well and could get bigger down pipes on.

As far as I am aware, the only company that ever made headers for 65-67 330 applications was Kooks http://www.kookscustomheaders.com/index.php
Although I don't see them listed on their site, it certainly would be worth a call.

I've been everywhere trying to find headers to fit my 66 with a 330. I was tickled pink a few years ago. I lifted the front end off the motor mounts, installed the right side header made for a 350, and guaranteed to work. The right side went on so well, but then....there is no way the left side would go on. It hit everything except the radio. I'm thinking they would have to be built from scratch. I then went to 2.5 inch pipe from front to rear, but I think I lost some power by going to the larger pipe from front to rear.

Years ago the Hooker catalog listed headers for the 66 cars with 330. Wether they fit or this was a printing mistake I do not know. And I have never tried them. I believe I saw this in a late 60's car magazine.

To the best of my knowledge there is only 1 company making a header for a 330 in a 65 - 67 "A" body, there is just not enough clearance in there. It was mentioned above from Kooks. They are very expensive. I know of no-one that has used them. The High flow exhaust manifolds from Sanderson seem to be the direction that most go.

I understand ARH (American Racing Headers) makes a set for the SBO in these models. They are stainless and expensive so be prepared.

M&J Proformance also makes them: http://72.22.90.30/phpBB2/viewtopic....ht=sbo+headers

I know this is an old thread, but I'm hoping someone can tell me any of the other more reasonably priced headers that didn't fit would work if they were to be modified...my mechanic is handy with the weld torch and might be able to make something work...possible?
