Mainly 1962 Starfire.
I am making the brackets for the ac compressor and alternator on my 394 engine.
I am using some of the mounting bracket off of my 62 Starfire donor car. You know the drill cut, fit and weld.. Well the cut and fit goes well,we'll, when I get to the weld part it's difficult.
I'm talking about laying flat on a weld table and welding new steel to the old bracket pieces. I can lay a nice bead down normally. The bracket material would not accept the weld until I had laid an ugly bead down, ground it off and welded it again using the same rod and amp setting.
Does anyone know what kind of steel the brackets are made of.
