1955 Super 88 Holiday coupe moulding clips sizes

I'm hoping someone who has restored a '55 super 88 Holiday coupe can help. I'm after the size and number of the moulding clips needed for the exterior side trim. I know the front fender is mostly a one piece affair, but what about doors and the rear quarter?

I have the 55 body and mechanical books but they only show upto 54. I have had one side of the 'swoop' off and the clips have the spring on them, but does anyone know the sizes needed and the amount per side?

If not I'll just have to guess it. I've checked the Fusick catalogue and they show clips but not how many are required.

Anyone know?

thanks in advance.

What I did (but I had some of the old molding clips) is find the fastener store that handles body shop supplies. Generally they will have every clip in every size you may need. They may not look the same but do the job. If you know the width of the molding (take it in with you) and whether or not it is a clip/ snap on or a bolt on style that will help keep you trips to the store down. I believe the doors have both types on the same molding it's been a while I could be wrong on this.... Tedd

Thanks Ted,

I was hoping to order from Rock auto as they are very expensive here and I wanted to order a bulk lot to cover the whole car.

Oops, I didn't see your location. Have you tried E bay I have seen kits offered there for a 55 but it's been a few years?... Tedd

I had the same issues when I restored my 55' super 88. Try a local body shop supply store and/or Restoration Specialties in Pa. For the beltline trim on the doors my local body shop let me look through their fastener drawers. I found black plastic disc type with threads on the end that fit great. I believe i needed 28 of them and the bodyshop charged me $12.00, good luck!
