1951 Oldsmobile Super 88...

After selling the '55, I'm looking to search another Olds. A guy in my club is selling a '51 Super 88, 4 door, in good shape, complete and running, ask 6k. What are your opinion and though about this car. I know that without pics it is difficult to judge it, but I need help to decide about it, or better move on another year. I will post pics this weekend.

Thanks!

Can't tell a thing without more info. Has it been rebuilt ,restored ,how straight is the body, how much rust, chrome pitted, bumpers dinged, all original or customized are you mechanical inclined and last but not the least do you like this car more than something else, because you will probably in the next two years spend more time with it than your wife .Just a few thoughts from someone who has been there.....Tedd

The car is in stock/original condition, two tone paint job, engine with original miles (less than 100K). All complete and running. The body is straight, no rust.

Yes I'm mechanically inclined, and usually I do mostly of the works myself on the cars I own.

Sounds like a project! $6k for a running driving car, if somewhat nice is a good deal I suspect.

As you know 100K on a 50+ year car is quite a few miles, meaning it will soon need about everything that rotates or goes up and down (back in the day they weren't supposed to last many more miles than that),on the other hand finding a fifty year car that is sound and all the parts are there is priceless.Price looks good as you describe it, hell my insurance just paid 1700 for just a hood, somehow it now seems like a bargain..
