1949 88 vs. 1950 88 front fenders. Help wanted

I have been kindly steered toward a Craigslist ad for a couple of front fenders, one NOS and one 'excellent'. Unfortunately I have a '50 and it looks like one is a '49 (which didn't have the long side spear trailing off the headlight) at least I can't see holes where the chrome clips would go.
Does anyone know if there are more substantial differences I need to worry about?
Cheers
Erik

Erik:

I am pretty sure you have identified the only difference. It was common for people to put the 50 trim on 49's after the 50 came out.

49 and 50 fenders will interchange as they are structurally the same. The only difference is in the trim mounting holes. As you noticed the 49 does not use the upper fender molding. If the 49 fenders are for an 88, they will have 5 large holes on the lower area that will need to be filled. The 76 model did not have these holes that were for the large cast Futuramic molding.
