dome lamp connector 70 olds 442
Hello one of many questions I'll be asking regarding wiring the first being where does the dome lamp wire feed to? Is there a separate connector for it? Thanks
it comes off the intermediate harness that runs under the seat and into the trunk. On the driver quarter panel by the package tray there should be a orange and white wire that feeds the dome lamp and the c-pillar lamps if you have them. It helps if you crawl into the trunk or if you have the interior out of the car.
So that's the connector I see I thought it was for a convertible switch for cars with rag tops I must have pushed the connector wire for some lamp up out of the way when I was undercoating. Thanks
Should be a gray or orange wire going to the door jamb switches. Even if one of the door jamb switches is set wrong (they screw into the A pillar BTW) it's enough to keep the interior lights on.
Other thought is: Did you by any chance connect the power source to the trunk wire pigtail? That line (orange) is always hot and uses the switch for the trunk light to interrupt power.

They're spring loaded. If the spring has broken or is missing inside, the pressure switch won't work. If the switch is good, it's a matter of finding which one isn't in proper contact with the door. As the door closes, it presses the contact switch closed which 'open's the circuit and cuts power to the lights.

thanks! and thats for sure. i have a question for your regarding my map light. is it supposed to turn on all of my interior courtesy lights whebn i turn it on? same thing goes for when i turn my head light switch to activate my interior lights the map light comes on as well. but it does not come on when i open my door?
The map light should have an on/off switch. It is part of the interior light package but it's not the trigger for the entire light group. That's the function of either the door jamb switches or the main headlight rheostat.
Just to be sure we're talking about the same thing, you're not referring to the overhead dome light right? The map light looks like this:

It's on the same circuit as part of the courtesy light package. It might just work like a second switch in the circuit same as the door jamb switches. I never checked that before though. My gut feeling is that it shouldn't turn on all the interior lights though.
It's definitely strange but hey I'm not gonna mess with it I'll leave well enough alone lol!! Thanks
Just to give an update I have all of my electrical figured out. I now have blower motor, my interior and exterior lights ( except my parking lights in the rear for some reason) and wiper motor. I was looking in to maybe putting in some head light relays to brighten them up a bit. I seen an article in car craft about them. Does any one know whee I could get them.
Thanks
Thanks
If you have the standard T3 headlights you're not going to do yourself any favors doing that. They'll just burn out faster. Are you using the car for a DD or just for shows and fun?
Parking lights in the rear?? Are you talking about the side marker lights or the tail lights in the bumper? Side marker lights are just 194 bulbs. Check them for burnt out or bad socket.

So Allan I was checking out the map light and it has an orange power with a white and black wire next to it as well as the ground so must be it is all connected to the rest of courtesy lights
