78 Delta - Power Window Switch search...
Here's the deal. Pics included. A few months ago, I decided to install the longer arm rests to my Delta. Love them. It takes the window switch that is normally at my ankle and moves it to my finger tips. Looks classier too...
So I embarked on finding a 2-Door armrest. SCORED. Then the issue started. It appears that in 79 or 80, Olds changed wiring designs for their windows. Which means, gotta find a 2 button 5 prong driver's side window switch... See attached pics. The 78 uses a 5 prong - 2 button setup. The 79 or 80+ use a 6 prong 2 button. The bigger issue? I can get a 6 prong ALL day long. 5 prong, hahahahaha. BUT.........
I did find a small glimmer of hope. It would appear that 77-78 Eldorados used the switch I need... Here's a little pictorial

Top view.

Bottom view.
What I need is:

2 Button of course...

But 5 prong is what I need...
All of the local parts guys, and national chains all seem to bring up the same Dorman/Help part numbers that give me a 6 prong switch. Like this:

That's Dorman 901-003 - no bueno. Although I have it "working" right now, I want the right switch...
Any leads would be appreciated... I'd love to buy a new one without having to sell a kidney.

After doing a little research on my parts system it seems you will need either GM Part Number 1725092 or 9843442 depending on what model interior your switches are out of…. 1725092 is for Model BL37 and 9843442 is for model BN37.… My illustrations don’t show the actual switch …. My best guess would be 9843442 since it also fits higher end 98’s and Toronado…. Whereas the 1725092 is shown as fitting Omegas as well as Cutlass which most likely would be door panel mounted and not armrest….
I also found some online catalogs you can play around with…..

Be careful with the Toro's ...
Not all 74's had the fixed rear opera window.
Some were still like the 71-73 cars ... in which there were (4) windows for the driver to control vs only (2) like all the 75-78 cars.
With that said, if you find yourself tracking down used stuff .....
Make sure anything from a 74 comes from a car with the fixed rear opera window.
