52 Super 88 Voltage Regulator
Hi, I got a little problem with my Super 88. I had some issues with the Voltage regulator. It did not reload the Battery it just regulated to 6V... Then I just tried a little bit (by flexing the contacts) and now it loads with 8,2V to 8,5V... And I think that is a lot too much. Now it also doesn't cut the loading relais...
I took some pictures from the regulator (I think it looks almost new). Hope anybody of you can help me or give me some tipps what I can do...

Have you changed anything else electrically lately like the generator and also was it properly polarized in the first place when the new regulator was installed? Bending / tweaking the internals of your regulator makes trouble shooting very difficult.
8.5 volts doesn't seen excessive but the fact that it remains with out shutting down is a problem. In general if output drops off or is to low the regulator is causing the condition. If the output remains high the field is grounded in the generator either at the pole, shoes, leads or at the F terminal. You may have a generator problem not a regulator problem.My best guess is before you tweaked the regulator it was defective or improperly polarized. Electricity is not my best field but unless you can get the regulator back to it's original condition it's over my head on how to trouble shoot.....Lost in the fifties .....Tedd

I bought the car as it is, but the generator looks also pretty new...
But at the beginning it only brought 5,9 to 6,1 Volt and that is a lot too less... My car just broke down on the Autobahn because there was not enough power for the ignition...

Bending the contacts was a mistake. The only thing you should do to the contacts is clean them with a point file. Bending the contacts may make it VERY difficult to set the reg and it may not hlod the setting. Adjustments are made with the springs on the side of the reg. If the cutout relay does not open when ignition is off, the generator will probably now have burnt fields. At this point, I would suggest you buy a new regulator and have both the new regulator and generator serviced by a professional in your area.

as it looks to me, the cutout relay is always open and does not close so the regulator relay can not regulate the voltage...
