Evening all my Car Gurus !
Been chasing a convertible top switch issues. Replacing switches every few years ! With my body all contorted and cussin' up a storm, I have replaced the switch again......... I'm starting to understand why my Dad had a toggle switch under the dash ! Any ways with the assistance and advice of fellow forum people ! I have tested the switch, and functions fine. But My Mentors had also mentioned that when a switch goes bad < It can cause a voltage/amperage back flow to the pump/motor. " It should not draw more then 30 Amps. So with meter in hand and my mechanic / friend we tested everything from the motor / pump to the dash switch and some wierd readings amp wise. Finally out to the relay on the firewall located above the brake booster. The relay tested bad at back left blade if viewing from front. 3 blades to left one blade right ?
I'm reaching out to YOU ! my experts for the best (what you'd put in your 71/72 Cutlass Convertibles. From what I have seen so far. This relay is multi purpose; A/C Blower, Headlights, Convertible top, Rear glass ( Vista Cruiser ) And what the N.O.S. ACDelco number would have been. OR even better is someone has it in supply.
It's going back to the shows weekend of the 20th and I like to have a sfae working top. Appreciate Ya'll Tony and Cutty
State of the car right now since the rear speaker had to be removed to free up the top well liner !
