1969 442

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone can help me figure fit if my antenna setup is original on my 69 442. It was beat to hell and now that I have the fenders off for replacement I am trying to locate an antenna that is for my car.

My 69 442 is Built in Canada, so I'm under the assumption that the antenna is different than the one on US built 442s. I looked on Fusicks website and they only carry the press in type Mast Antennas for the 69.

Here are a couple of pictures, I disassembled it...

Thanks guys

Should look like this with an elliptical mast.

Good luck. All of the parts are reproduced but they're pricey. It'll cost you a few hundred bucks to get it back to original - with the repro parts. I had a repro antenna lead from the Parts Place on my '69 (I was in the same situation you are now with an old aftermarket set-up) but it got damaged in the repaint. I ended up finding an NOS on eBay for $60. Much cheaper than the repro and better quality.
The mast and small bits are available. I got mine through Fusick. Quality seems OK and it works but I never had the original to compare it to.
I'm curious why you thought the Canadian set-up might have been different than the US? I never thought about this before. Is it something you've seen on other cars?

No, I only thought this as the antenna i took apart looked Iike it had been on the car for 50 + years. For some reason I thought it was a stock original, as it looked 50+ years old, that's why I thought it may have been different here in Canada, but obviously I was wrong. I dug deeper into it and whoever owned the car before me switched it out at one point in time. I found a Antenna made by "Metrant 6572SCG" that looks identical to the one that was on my 69 and they sell for about $15-$20......I have started looking for a repop or original if possible. I have a list of stuff sitting in my cart on Fusick, but they only sell the Mast portion, so may have to go with a Parts Place repop as they are sold as complete sets as well as individual pieces. But I need to be nice to my wallet and take a good look to see what's out there online, ebay etc....before I spend a big chunk on a repop.
