Unknown wire clip

Hi, owner of a 1985 cutlass 442. The Guage cluster lights have stopped working so I am trying to figure out why. I found this wire with a clip behind the cluster and have no idea what it is supposed to be hooked up To. Help would be seriously appreciated!!

Black wires are ground. Try touching the clip to a good ground source under the dash (possibly the steering column bolts) and see if your dash lights come back on.

That clips to the speedo cable. I’m not sure what the speedo ground is for, GM obviously thought it was needed.

Hmm very strange, for the speedo cable? I ended up putting this wire onto a bolt like suggested, and my lights started working again! Whatever it is for, seems to be happy where it is now.
