Again I am new to this site and glad I found it. Been here only one day and you already fixed one problem. Thank you. You guys are great. Other Olds sites have no activity or they are forums for blogs of political and personal agendas. Just recently got 67 CS 442 with a few electrical issues. Hopefully my last problem is, after I have already fixed the turn signal rear lights (rusted sockets), replacing brake light switch (sticking switch), fixing ground to the emergency brake warning light (switch was not grounding due to someone painting the e/brake assembly) NOW the problem is that the brake lights work but when you apply either R or L turn signal the brake lights stop working????? Cancel the turn indicator and brake lights work fine. And turn signals work fine all the time when called for.

Both brake lights quit when the right or left turn is engaged?
When the turn is not engaged, volts go from the brake switch through the signal switch to both rear lights. When the turn is engaged, volt only goes from the brake switch to the opposite side.
This is controlled through the turn signal switch.
Some troubleshooting with a test light can confirm the switch is faulty.
Do you have a tilt steering wheel?

thanks for fast reply. Yes both brake light quit when either turn is engaged. No tilt steering.

The turn signal and brake light circuits are the same from the turn signal rearward to the lights. The only possible cause of this problem is the turn signal switch. Does your car have a four way flasher button on the column? If so, be sure it is pulled all the way out.

Joe, your reply came thru with a link to some do it yourself video (I assumed to be about the electrical issues I was having) but the link was corrupted would not upload per my internet security. When I closed out and reopened the post the link was missing from your post????? Don't know if you were hacked or I was hacked or what. Just thought I would let you know what I saw.
