I saw an auction for an early fifties or late forties Olds radio on ebay. The guy completely rebuilt the radio with all new caps and did some other stuff, he even included a pre-amp input in the back to route signals from an outside source like a cd player or fm tuner to be played through the radio's speaker. I think his buy it now price was $150 which sounded reasonable. He mentioned that he does this so you might find he has an ebay store or whatever they call it. Maybe he could fix you up.

Wow! That sounds great, and the price seemed very reasonable, that is the cheapst I have seen yet, there was a chevy wonderbar on ebay for 1500 bucks, that would be 1/2 price of the car!!! This healps alot. Would you be able to tell me the guy's username so I could shoot him an E-mail, Thank You very much, I am very greatful for the heads up on this guy.

His username on ebay is " otosed ". This is for a regular am radio. I would bet if he does do a wonderbar it would be more, I have heard they are hard to fix, but it is worth a shot!

Don't know if I should ask this here or start a new thread, but with my '71 Cutlass (has a Wonderbar radio) I have a couple of questions about it. The gentleman we bought the car from told us the radio wasn't hooked up because there had been an after market CD player in the glove box. My husband (not wanting to take the entire dash apart, yet) checked underneath the dash and the only thing he could see not hooked up was the lighter. Glad he found that, now I can charge my cell phone. However, we're still not sure what all we need to do to check and see if the radio works at all. He is an electrician so he tested everything with his testers and everything "seemed" to test out OK. Not so sure that's right either, other problem w/reverse light tested OK, neighbor says, "bad ground". Will we have to take the whole dash apart? Clock doesn't work either, may be a winter project. Lack of tunes is driving us to extremes....little pink boom box on the front seat just doesn't look too cool! Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

well, Behind the ***** there should be nuts to take the radio off, there may be one behind or on the side of the radio too. Then it should be able to slide out or into and down under the dash. as long as you have power, antenna, and speakers hooked up, you should be working if the radio is good, you should also check the fuses, the one in the fuse block and one in-line if there is one. Good luck let me know how it goes, I will ask around if you still have no luck.
