Wiper Arms Parked on hood...

Ok - strange but new car to me. Wipers were not working: I found that they were not plugged in... so I plugged them in to no big surprise, they still didn't work. The next thing I know when I parked the car for the night the wipers arms had parked themselves south of the windshield and are now bound on the hood. This is bad... scratches I'm sure a imminent if I cant get them off there soon...

The CSM does not tell me how to remove the arms from the drive and my last attempt to pry then up was not good ... we'll leave it at that.

Can someone offer advice on how to remove the wiper arms without further damaging my paint or if there is another way to safely rotate the arms north, to their full correct position on the windshield.

Thanks Team Olds!!

Car is 1967 Oldsmobile 98 LS 4-door as pictured in my gallery and avatar.
