Windshield Wiper Motor Plugs

OK...is there a special way to remove the plugs for the w/s wiper motor/fluid pump? I believe I have some corrosion built up and need to clean them. I can turn on the wipers but they will stop mid-wipe unless I bump them going again. I tried removing the plugs by just pulling them off but they didn't seem to want to cooperate and I didn't want to break them hense the above question.

Thanks,
Scott

Thx. Wasn't sure if there was a retaining clip that would break if I put a little umph behind it.
