What? My 68 442 just died while driving.

Driving home from a show today(2nd place 60's Muscle Car!). Engine, radio everything just stopped working. No Emergency Flashers, starter, radio...nothing. Going to get my multimeter out tomorrow and start checking stuff out. Ideas? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Could be the fusible link between battery and the horn relay...that feeds the whole car. Check for voltage at horn relay and then fuse panel. Running engine should provide voltage via alternator. Check wire from alternator to horn relay.

Thanks for the reply Yellowstatue! I went outside, checked my battery voltage, Just for grins I thought I'd just go turn the key on. WHAT? car fired right up. lights, turn signals, radio everything works and ran....Now what? I don't want to continue driving it and have it just die again.

I had a similar situation a while back. Make sure your battery connections are good. Also check that the negative battery cable is grounded good and the ground strap on the engine is ok. My engine ground strap had broke and neg battery cable was loose. Hope this helps.

That happened with my '72 Chevy truck last year. It was the negative battery cable, in particular the smaller wire that grounds to the fender and meets with the post connection was loose on the battery end. A new crimped connector fixed it perfectly. Good luck.
