Voltage

For those of you with 6v systems, how do you convert to 12v? I have been, for many years, a VW enthusiast we just put voltage reducers to run 12v for things like starter and wipers. Im new to Olds and am wondering if that would be necessary or rebuild starter for 12v? And just change out bulbs.

The starter will usually take it. Change bulbs, radio and heater motor need to be reduced.

The 6V starter just spins faster on 12V. So long as you aren't cranking the motor for extended periods of time, it will be fine. Does the 56 have electric or vacuum wipers? The biggest problems are usually the gauges, which is where you want to use a voltage reducer. Bulbs are easy to change.
