Transmission reverse light plug?

Hey guys I’m doing some general maintenance on my 72 442 and ran across this plug dangling off the passenger side of the transmission, I’m not sure what it is but I’m guessing a reverse light plug possibly? Any help would be great

Look on the driver side of your trans just above the pan in the middle or so. You will
see where it plugs into for the kick down switch. I see it on your trans. the little white
who-dunnit there with the spade sticking out.

No GM automatic of that vintage has a reverse light plug in the trans. You didn't specify year, model, or transmission, so this is just guesswork. It APPEARS to be a TH400, which uses an electric solenoid for the trans kickdown.

The reverse light switch is in the console of it’s a floor shift, on the top of the column if it’s a column if it’s a column shift. One wire is dark green, the other is a light green. With the key on, use a fused jumper wire and connect the 2 wires, the reverse lights should come on. If so, you either have a bad switch or mis adjusted. If they still don’t work, check the bulbs (probably should do that first!), fuses, wiring in the trunk, condition of the sockets, etc.

Ok it’s a 1972 442 350 4v dual exhaust but now has an 80s style 307. ( I didn’t put the 307 in). But i believe it is a th350. The reverse light buckets are bad and I thought only the turbo 400’s had the lockdown on the tranny??? I appreciate all the responses

If its a T350, it uses a kickdown detent cable. Just take that wire and tie it up out of the way so it won't get damaged.
