Shucks

Took the Olds out at nite for first time in months and lo and behold, both license lite and cornerning lamps were out. I was thinking maybe the cornering lamps would only work when in gear or something; but that was a fantasy. I'm pretty sure my Dad's old '66 Polara turned off the license lite when parking lites were on; but mine is out no matter what.

I'm a little concerned, since I put all new bulbs in last year, and they were working great a few months back. I'm hoping it's a fuse; but I guess I have an issue whether it's bulbs or fuse(s).

It could be bulbs again, or a bad connection. Start at the bulb socket wit a meter and work your way forward.

John, I bet the cornering lights will only go on when the headlights are on. Did you check that? I know that my 98 wouldn't turn on the cornering lights if all that was used was the park lights.

Did you put dialetric grease in the sockets when you put in the bulbs last time? That stuff really helps prevent corrosion.

Yep; that will be my course of action, Cutlass. Thanks.
Allan, no, I didn't; that's a capital idea.... thanks. The cornering lights definitely do not work without the headlights off; you're right. I found that out the first time around.

Update

Whelpt, the license light was burnt and the cornering lamps have no juice; need to figure that one out.
BTW, anybody know what this little pigtail hanging towards the fuse box is/was/would be for?
Thanks in advance....

Possibly a lead to a junction block for cars with lots of accessories?

Duh!

After monkeying around and reading the manual for an hour, that black wire was for the cornering lights !

My big size 14 must've whacked it getting into or out of the car one time.
Easy fix, thank goodness. And the license light had blown the bulb. All fixed up now....

Thanks for the help, guys....
