Hello all,
Just looking at my chilton book wiring diagram and all over the engine bay looking for this connector, does anyone know what it is at first glance. I’ve been stumped for a few hours on this.
Okay that makes more sense. If I have converted to High Energy Ignition I’m assuming I’m going to have to alter this connection since its going into a modern style ignition system then.
the cloth covered wire is a resistance wire and does not supply a full 12 volts , the yellow wire is supplies a full 12 volts while cranking the car.
so depending on what you converted to you most likely will need to find a 12 volt source.

Define modern style ignition system. The 2 wires (resistance wire - tan cloth and the resistance wire bypass - yellow from the solenoid) as stated above are the stock points coil+ terminal connections.
If you’re using and HEI electronic ignition, get rid of that resistance wire in favor of a thicker wire (10 gauge maybe) that will supply 12 volts to the HEI unit.
