power problems

power problems

i got a 1968 cutlass 4 door 350 auto yesterday i got the heater to work and everything else worked fine until i turned on the wipers and shut the key off mid way up when i turn the key back on the wipers didn't work the heater doesn't work and the gen light is on. I don't understand what it could be. A fuse able link?

It could be a fusible link, but maybe your ignition switch or a loose connection (or open wire) between that and the battery.

Have a test light or volt meter?
Follow the main 12V circuit from the battery to the junction block on the firewall to the fusebox to the ignition switch. Have a wiring diagram of the car yet? It will be very helpful.

Laeving the wipers on in mid sweep would not have caused the problem - just was a coincidence.

power problems

some one put a generic ignition in it so the some of the wires are not hooked up i need a wiring diagram for the car b4 it happened i hooked up the wire for the head light made the heater worked replaced the bulbs in the running lights after the light came on i looked on the alt and there was no ground wire i put one one it i need to get a volt meter i only have a test light they didn't hook up 3 wires from the original ignition
